CBD Oil Common Terms & Phrases

This article outlines some helpful terms and buzz words you might read or hear in relation to CBD flower, CBD edibles and CBD Oil.

Cannabinoids

It’s a natural chemical compound that’s found in cannabis. There are over 113 cannabinoids so far, all with different uses and benefits. The most commonly occurring cannabinoids are CBD, CBG and THC.

Carrier oil

The oil that is used to dilute CBD extract, it helps CBD absorb into the body. The most common is MCT oil and hemp seed oil.

Certificate of analysis

A lab test report containing information about the cannabinoid content of a CBD product, it verifies that a product has the correct amount of CBD advertised on the label and whether it contains other beneficial cannabinoids. It also shows if I product is within the legal limit of delta 9 THC 0.2% THC.

ECS

Endocannabinoid system. The endocannabinoid system in our body is responsible for maintaining optimal balance. It consists of three parts, including endocannabinoids, cannabinoid receptors, and enzymes, CBD supports the ECS by interacting with these receptors, helping the body function optimally.

Tinctures

CBD extract combined with a carrier oil. Also known as CBD oil or CBD drops. This is the most popular and efficient method of supplementing CBD.

Bio Availability

The amount of substance your body can absorb that produces an active effect. With CBD, it depends on the type you are using, and how it’s taken.
