Terpenes and Terpenoids
Hey 123CBD Army
What are Terpenes are and why you should know about them?
The Background
The cannabis plant illegal Marijuana and legal CBD Hemp consist of a wide range of chemicals and compounds. About 140 of these belong to a class of aromatic organic hydrocarbons known as Terpenes (pronounced tur-peens). There are two words that float about in the cannabis world – Terpenes and Terpenoids. The main difference between the two is that Terpenes are hydrocarbons (meaning the only elements present are carbon and hydrogen). Whereas –Terpenoids – have been denatured by oxidation which occurs during curing and frying of CBD flowers.
For the flavour chasers
Terpenes are responsible for the aroma and flavour of cannabis. Terpenes act as receptors and neurotransmitters. They enhance norepinephrine activity and increase dopamine activity – which we all need on a regular basis! Without getting bogged down in detail you should educate yourself a little on Terpenes and Terpenoids and slide away from “I need to find the best cannabis out there” mentality! It’s not about the look, it’s not about the feel. It’s about how much effort the grower has put into caring for the marvellous plant from seedling right the way through to harvest. What water did they feed the plant with? What light was provided? What happened after the plant went into shock because it got too much nutrients when it was fed?
And finally – it’s all about the cure – like a fine wine or cheese. CBD flowers need to be kept at the relative humidity for months! This is why we at 123CBD have decide to use and provide Boveda humidity 62%Rh packs with all the CBD flowers that you purchase form us. From seedling to harvest to your home. You can rest knowing that we have considered every aspect of the CBD flowers journey and yours.
Take care everyone
CBD Dave
